348 A Week with Kelsey: Balancing Family, Fitness, and Running a Company
This week, I’m pulling back the curtain on what a week in my life really looks like.
Of course, every week is different. But I wanted to sit down 7 days in a row, and record what happened behind the scenes.
I chronicle:
What I eat to stay fueled (and how I keep meals mega simple around here)
What I do during my 2 days of child-care
How we fit in a 1x weekly date night
Spending as much time as possible with Freddie each week, and taking him on adventures
And more!
Like many of you, I (try to) juggle all the hats—mama, entrepreneur, friend, creative, wife, home chef, workout enthusiast... it's a lot!
And I'm far from having it figured out, but I can say with certainty that I have more energy in this phase of life than I've ever had before because I'm clear on my priorities.

Hey, visionaries. Welcome back to the show. We are doing a super fun episode today. It is a week in my life and not just sharing like hour by hour what I'm doing and the mundane things like cleaning my kitchen, but more so about how I structure my weeks, how I manage my time, how I fit it all and I say it all in quotations, how I fit it all in and make sure I get to all my priorities while making sure that I don't burn myself out essentially. So I'll share kind of day by day. I'm going to sit down and record and basically give you like a summary of my day and recap, but I'm also really going to share and try to dig into insights that I take away from each day because I am in the work right there with you. I'm in the trenches many days right there with you. Especially those of you who are balancing this really amazing but sometimes hard dichotomy of being a full time mama or, you know, your version of full time and also having massive dreams, massive ambitions and really wanting to do it all to grow your business.
And then this is where it gets funny. And then in between there, you're probably also the type of person who wants to take care of yourself. You want to get your workouts in, you want to cook well for your family and avoid eating the drive through through diet every day. You have awesome friend groups who you want to stay connected to. You have travel ambitions, you have like, there is just so much going on in life. Like life is so awesome, life is so full. So I really want to share from somebody who does feel like she has a very full life, a very satisfying and joyful life, but I want to give you the honesty of what a week in my life looks like. And of course, let me caveat this before we dive in by saying that every week is different.
Of course, I don't know that I need to really share that with you, but of course there are weeks, if I was sick and I have a cold or if I was up four times, five times with Freddie last night, yes, it might look different, but this is like more of a typical week in the life for me right now where I do have an abundance of energy. And I will say first and foremost, I am a high energy person, not necessarily extroverted because I love sitting by myself and working on my business for hours and hours on end. But I've always felt like someone who has so much energy when they wake up in the morning and unless I do a lot In a day, unless I do a hard workout, unless I feel like I created the best day ever for myself, I can't sleep at night. I don't know what that is in me, but I would rank my energy at about 10 out of 10 every single day. My cup is overflowing with things that I want to do out of my time and my energy usually allows for that because I've also met amazing people and I have friends who are more just lower energy or whatever word they would use. And they don't necessarily have that drive to just like get it. So don't compare you to me. I'm just sharing my own experience.
I will also say that Freddie naps two to three hours every single day. So of course we know the nap time hustle. It's like there are 9 million things on your to do list. But I usually choose to work and I know what my priorities are. So first and foremost my priorities are having healthy and simple food in the fridge and ready to eat. I feed my husband so I send him to work with breakfast, lunch, and then when he gets home at five, I try to have some healthy dinner. I am somebody who refuses to eat fast food. I don't like.
I would rather eat pasta and butter than order a meal out for a lot of the time. Like we like to treat ourselves to a nice dinner out once a week. But eating out to me is like it's a no thank you, it's not priority. And I feel like again I would rather eat pasta and butter or rice and like I don't even know what rice and plain chicken. So if I always have rice and a frozen chicken breast in the fridge, I'm never going to eat out because that takes, you know, not a lot of time to cook anyways. I digress. So priorities, healthy, simple food, daily workouts. Because again, I have to exert, otherwise I feel restless and that's probably a, you know, something I need to unpack.
Adventures with Freddie is my third priority. Quality time with Dave and loved one ones when time permits. And my work. So I would say those are my five priorities each day and I make sure I get to them every single day. I just five things, that's all. And I guess this doesn't make sense because priorities, like that's supposed to be a singular word. I know that. But these are five of my things that I am pretty non negotiable with during the week.
So I'm going to get into it. I will start recording on a Tuesday and I will do seven Days of updates. I'll also share my learnings and I hope you enjoy this. I mean this is an experiment. I've never done this before, but I think it's kind of cool to see behind the scenes. I've been running my business for eight years. I feel very confident in how I manage it. I've gone from a 40 hour workweek down to about a 13 hour work week.
Being on maternity leave for the last 12 months, my business still generates multi six figures, which I'm happy about. And by multi I mean it's in the twos. So let's not conflate things. It's not generating 3, 4, 5, 6700000 right now because I'm very much working only to my levels of joy because I really wanna prioritize motherhood. But I still love the business and I'm getting larger contracts with some B2B consulting that I can do while Freddy's napping, while he's sleeping at night. And then I take on private clients and I sell courses and do speaking opportunities. So that's kind of a little caveat again. Okay, so tomorrow night, on Tuesday night, I will be recording the first update.
And again, let's get into it. Hey visionaries. I'm checking in for the Tuesday update. Today was pretty busy, pretty crazy. Just a reminder, my priorities, if I can have five, are healthy, simple meals, daily workouts, adventures with Freddy, quality time with Dave and work. Today is a work day, so I work on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. We had a nanny for a bit, she kind of left us high and dry. It's a story for another day.
So we have Dave's dad coming today. So because Tuesdays I teach at Toronto Metropolitan and I usually, if I am recording a podcast with an interview, it's on a Tuesday. And I'll usually take spillover of one to one clients on Tuesdays. So I have four and a half to five hours of childcare. Four hours of those are spent on calls. Fifteen minutes of that was spent on getting ready and making myself a coffee when Dave's dad arrived to watch Freddie. And the rest was really just like buffer to do some admin work right before and right after. So here's what the day looked like overall.
I woke up and because we have people coming to our house on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, I feel this intense need to clean it. And if you have a kid or multiple kids, you know, the house just gets dirty. And so I basically spent from 7am until about 9am When Dave's dad arrived cleaning. So I'm like feeding Freddie. I'm getting myself ready. I am having fun. Just like Freddie and I are playing games around the house. I'm trying to, like, make the bed, clean the kitchen, clean the dining room, clean the family room, get the front hall organized.
And, you know, that just kind of takes some time. So that was what my morning looked like. Dave's dad arrived, we got Freddie all ready to go out for a little adventure, and then I got to work. So on Tuesdays, I spend the first two hours of my workday at Toronto Metropolitan University. I am part of their digital marketing accelerator and growth program. And so for the first hour, we were all in a session about website and landing page optimization. And then for the second hour, I facilitate a small group. They are founders, CEOs, entrepreneurs, and we basically are having conversations around what they learned in that session.
So I'm actually one of the experts who guides them, who helps them with SEO challenges, website challenges, conversion issues, reviewing their ads, reviewing their marketing plans, et cetera. I love it. It's such a fun opportunity and I'm very grateful to be affiliated with tmu. Right after I got off that call, I leave right at the top of 1130. I recorded a podcast with someone named Jonathan Good Goodman. He's been on Visionary Life before. I believe it was episode 159. And he is an incredible thought leader, founder of the Personal Trainer, Development center, online entrepreneur, and he wrote a book that's called the Obvious Choice.
And he was building his book launch team and I knew I wanted to support him, so I ordered a few copies of the book and he agreed to come back on the show, which will be airing in January. He shares so many truths around what it is to build a business, build a brand, do really good marketing without feeling like you have to be a social media influencer. So some really good truths there. So recorded that. And then I had a client call with one of my clients who runs a clinic in Toronto, and we are working on her 2025 marketing plan that she can present to her team. So I was not fully prepared for the podcast interview today. I have to be honest. I mean, I read most of his book and I listened to Jonathan on a few other episodes and I've interviewed him before and I follow him online.
But normally I would spend hours and hours doing research, but I'm in a different season of life and there's a lot of competing priorities. And so really what I realized today is just the. The ability to wing it when You've done the rep. So I've recorded over 350 episod. I've hosted so many interviews and I felt confident coming into the episode and just flowing with John and the conversation that would come up because of the hundreds and hundreds of reps that I've done. So I feel like you don't get to do that necessarily in the early days of starting anything. But I'm so grateful that I was able to show up and to make it happen despite the fact that I didn't have every single question perfectly curated. Meals were pretty simple today.
As I mentioned, that's one of my other priorities. I sent sandwiches with Dave at a sandwich myself. Smoothies. And for dinner we had steaks that had thawed from the freezer and potatoes. So pretty basic stuff over here. Um, I always try to keep meat in the freezer for last minute meals. Today was a rest day for me so I wasn't doing a workout because I had done many days in a row. My body was sore and I had actually had a massage therapy appointment booked for the last month.
Been about six months since I've had a massage because, well, my massage therapist mostly works days and the only time I can go would be anytime after 5:15. So she opened up a spot and I was lucky to snag it before benefits renew. So I had a 90 minute mama massage on Tuesday night and it was so nice. And my massage therapist Morgan is just the best. So. So yeah, it was a really great day overall. Got to spend quality time with Dave. I got to do it an adventure with Freddie.
I took him swinging in the afternoon after my calls over in the park and we swung together. There's like an adult kids swing. And that was Tuesday. Hi guys. Checking in with a Wednesday update. Oh my goodness, Wednesdays are jam packed. Uh, they have always been my workday since I went back to work at about two months after Freddie was born. And so I usually see most of my one to one clients on Wednesdays.
Today was also busy because I have a girls night. Tonight we are going felting at a friend's house and that just meant trying to get it all in because normally I'll work an hour in the evening but I knew I wouldn't have that today. So first let me give you a snapshot of how we did the meals today. So smoothies. Lunch was really simple. I just sauteed ground beef for everybody and I ate some eggs and sent Dave with pasta and red sauce and I literally ate like peanut butter protein balls because that's what I was bringing to my friend's house. I'm signed up for the 6pm class for F45. So I'm doing a 45 minute workout.
There's a studio just five minutes away from me in Paris. And if you've been doing F45, you know, it's efficient, it's easy, it's brainless and I really like it. And today was actually so fun because when I woke up it was snowing. And this is kind of like Freddy's first winter. I mean he was born in December last, last year, but it's not like we were taking him out on winter adventures like sledding and stuff. So because it was snowing this morning, I knew my, my aunt comes on Wednesdays, but I looked at the weather and I was like, I gotta get Freddy outside. So I bundled him up, fed him breakfast, all the things, and we went on a little morning adventure and got back by about 9am it was so fun. We played in the snow, I sat him down.
It was just such a fun way to energize and invigorate first thing. And sometimes when you have a time limit, you just go right, like pushed us out the door. And I was like, we're going to enjoy this. I got to talk with some of the maintenance people in the park. It was awesome. And then my aunt came. My work day was one on one clients. So I have a life coach and grief counselor, one on one client, a dance studio in Toronto, yoga teacher who lives on the west coast.
And we have our WAVE mastermind, which is the leading best mastermind for female entrepreneurs in Canada. And we had about 20 people on the call. We did deep dives where we really just go around and see where people are at. We support them, we give them advice or guidance or helpful hints and next steps on how to take action or how to move through a block or how to dream up their next thousand dollar million dollar billion dollar business idea. So that was really, really amazing. And yeah, it was, it was very jam packed. It was like back to back calls. I think my lesson learned of Wednesday was just like, I usually schedule 45 minute calls, but I give my clients the hour and I'm like, I need like 2 minutes buffer to go from one call to the next and to really be on for a little over four hours with no break, no bathroom, not even a chance to really like crunch an almond or a cashew.
I did sip some smoothie through there, but it was full on. And I usually feel pretty Mentally tired by the end of the day. But Dave got home, we spent some time together. I had actually gotten Freddy all bundled up again because it was still snowing and we went out out on a family sled adventure. Then I went to the F45 class and finally ended with 8pm over at a friend's house for crafting and felt night. And that was really fun. We some girl chat with the local gals and we had some wine and stayed up way past bedtime. But you can do that once in a while, right? So that was my Wednesday.
I will check back in tomorrow. Hey guys. So it's Thursday evening and I just wrapped up a really fun day. Always fun, right? Always fun when you jam pack it. So again, priorities just to remind you guys, meals, workouts, adventures with Freddie, quality time with Dave and work. So today was a non work day which meant that nobody's coming to watch Freddy. So my two work days are Tuesday, Wednesday. So Thursday is a mama day.
And we have this new fun ritual of going swimming on Thursday mornings. And so we did that this morning. We got up, we had breakfast and we drove straight to the pool and got in our bathing suits and we swam for an hour which was really, really fun. And by we swam I mean I'm like hanging out with Freddy in the pool, playing with toys, doing all the things. So that was awesome. And then we just kind of like hung around the community center after and just explored and we got some books out of the local library vending machine and it was so much fun. So got back, played with Freddy a bit more, fed him lunch, put him to bed and then it was work time. So I had a laundry list of things including content and getting back to clients and updating clients websites and SEO reviews to see where people's search engine optimization are at replying to emails.
So there was lots and lots there. I didn't really have much of a meal plan today, so I ended up eating more of those peanut butter protein balls for breakfast, lunch and then it was like girl dinner, avocado toast. So not the best day of eating, but again we just keep it simple here. And I actually went out fat biking tonight. So it was snowing again. So I decided for my workout to go on a two hour biking adventure. It was cold, it was like minus 10. But this is the best thing about having friends who are adventurous and who love the same things you love.
It's like, okay, we're meeting 6, 6:30 at this parking lot, who's in? And when I say I'M into something, I will never back out unless I'm like dying on the couch. I remember bailing on this is like funny, but not funny. I remember I had a meeting booked the day that I was having a miscarriage and the guilt I felt for canceling. Like, I, I know this is so dumb, but I hate canceling plans. Like it pained me to have to make that message being like, I'm sorry, I have to cancel our meeting. I can laugh about it now, but it's, it's to a fault. Let's just say that. So, yeah, it was such a great day.
Got lots of work and ketchup done. You know, at a certain point I just need to relieve my tired brain. Like going from full on motherhood to then like I put Freddy down for a nap, then I run down to my computer and I try to like work my, all my hours in a two hour workday, which is absolutely wild. But you know, we make it work and this is the choice I've made. And I, I love that I get to be a working mama, but sometimes it feels frantic and yeah, I mean, I know life never slows down. So it's about knowing what matters to you and being able to hit your head against the pillow at night saying, I did a good job and I lived exactly the way I wanted to live. So it was a great day today. And I love having these little rituals.
Like every Thursday we go swimming. Now every Monday, which you'll hear on my Monday update, I'm sure. Uh, we go to fitness class. So there's just fun little things built in. And it's so fun to have the structure. It's like I'm running a little summer day camp for him. Um, all right, cool. I will check back in tomorrow.
Hey guys, it is Friday at 1:00. I thought I'd record this update because I don't think I'll be recording it tonight. This morning, Friday. We were actually supposed to visit a friend in Hamilton today, but that got canceled. So the day actually cleared up. So I actually started my day. I booked in a naturopath appointment for 7am, which is so early it's still dark outside. But I noticed that my naturopath had that slot available.
Freddy's usually still sleeping and it's easier than trying to fit something in during the day when I don't have care or like she doesn't really have evening slots. So anyways, I took the 7am slot and we were just chatting about nutrition and like what might be depleted from Breastfeeding and how to combat mom brain. And I was just asking her about some supplements and getting some blood tests and yeah, just like having really good conversations. So shout out to Dr. Rachel Coradetti if you need a naturopathic doctor. She specifically focuses on women's health, fertility, pregnancy, postpartum. She's amazing. You might have met her at one of our events.
She frequents the the meetups that we host here in Ontario and there will be one in March of 2025. So DM me the word meetup if you want more details, some early access to where it is and what it'll be. Super excited for it, but yeah. So Dr. Rachel is amazing. She's my naturopath. So I had appointment with her. I prepared leftovers for Dave.
I did overnight oats, and then I sent him with stir fry and some Brazil nuts. And then for myself, I did scrambled eggs, had Freddy's scraps, and then a bunch of Mary's crackers. So meals are pretty simple. Today I think I'm Gonna hit the 6:00 F45 class. But today, since we had the day freed up, I decided to just set out on a walking adventure with Freddy. I live downtown, so I'm able to kind of like peruse the shops and see people. So we went to the market first thing and walked around the market and then we were gonna go to the library, but it wasn't open yet. So I went to the local coffee shop and chatted with the owners of the coffee shop.
We sat. They also sell books there. So I bought a couple books. I bought Marie Forleo's book Everything is Figureout. And I bought a. What do you call it? A fiction book. I'm really bad at reading. So two things that I'm bad at.
And, you know, maybe I just need to flip my mindset, but I'm bad at watching TV. Like, I just don't watch TV or movies, but I'd like to. I do watch YouTube in bed sometimes. I love watching like homesteader YouTube videos, but that about it. And then reading books. I know, it's so brutal. I want to be a reader, but I'm not. So if anyone has tips on how you've gone from not being a reader to becoming a reader, please let me know because I want so badly to read you guys.
I listen to a shitload of podcasts, especially prior to having Freddy. Now time's so limited. But here's the thing. At the end of the day, like, come 9pm, all I want to do Is eat a snack, look at Instagram. Because I don't look at it during the day. Like do some numbing on social media, call it like 20 to 30 minutes where I catch up on favorite creators. Again, I do not do that during the day. It's like a very hard rule for me.
I will post but I won't scroll. But my I just feel too tired to read. So I don't know, like, do you get up early? Do you sacrifice, change priorities? I guess it's not a priority. There's what I've realized. So yeah, anyways, we bought a couple books, then we went to the library. So for somebody who doesn't read, I go to a coffee shop that sells books and bought books and then I went to the library and hung out with Freddie in the library. But we mostly just played with Lego in the library anyways. So yeah, here I am.
It's the end of the work week. I'll be recording for Saturday, Sunday and Monday as well just to do a full week in the life. But I do love Fridays. Dave and I usually have like a date night on Friday since having Freddy, it's more of a date night in but it's still nevertheless like a time to make a nice meal. Maybe we'll have a glass of wine, maybe not put on some music, go in the hot tub together and just make it a priority to spend time and connect. So yeah, that's it. I think I'll wrap it here for my Friday update. I guess my lesson of the day is if you are a busy mom entrepreneur, don't be afraid to build out your health advisory team.
So finding practitioners who you connect with who are also mothers. If you're a mother who are also entrepreneurs. Like I, I'm not great at scheduling regular self care, but I would say I go for a massage maybe three to four times a year. Acupuncture three to four times a year, a naturopath three to four times a year. So that basically ensures that. And maybe a facial once a year. I know that's not very much, but that ensures that I have one self care appointment every month and then maybe get my hair done twice a year. So again, I could probably use a bit more of that time but I instead put that into other activities.
I guess so yeah. So that is kind of my tip is like build your healthcare team and find practitioners who you love. Being around. My acupuncturist, for example, I just love her energy. I don't even care what acupuncture is doing. To me, I mean, I love it and I know it works, but I just want to be in her presence. I love her clinic. I love the sounds and the smell and the visuals of the room.
Same with my massage therapist, my naturopath. I see her virtually, but I love talking with her. I know she walks the walk. She's relatable, she's kind. Yeah. So make sure you have practitioners who you can really trust in and who just by osmosis, being around them. Their energy is so good. All right, I will check back in later.
Well, not later, but with a weekend update and then we'll end it on Monday. Hey visionaries. It is Sunday night and my voice might be going because yesterday I had a very full day of teaching. As some of you know, I am a business and marketing teacher at the Canadian School of Natural Nutrition and that course runs on weekends. Lucky students who go to school all week and then they have to sit through a weekend course. So this is at the end of their program. They get to learn about how to set up their business for success. They learn about the legal stuff of being in an unregulated industry, which I get to teach and hopefully make it fun for them to really think about finding their first client and everything that it's going to take to get them there.
So I woke up Saturday morning. Well, first off, I should mention we had a very quiet Friday night. Went out for a sleigh ride or I guess tugged Freddy along in the sled and just made some pizza at home. We love Pizza Fridays. Love cooking my own pizzas in the oven using some sourdough bread as our dough. And I also did a yeast dough in case the sourdough didn't work out. And I'm glad I did because the yeasted dough worked out better anyway. So I had a very chill night knowing that I was working on Saturday and that I would be away from about 10 until 4, well away in the basement.
I wanted to make sure I got up early on Saturday and got a good sleep in on Friday night. So went to bed at a decent hour. I'm usually in bed asleep by about 9:30, 10, 10:15 at the latest. And I set my alarm for 6:30am I wanted to get up and just like have a morning before I went to work for the day. So I got to read my book a little bit. I got to just browse. I like to just like read my emails, clear my inbox, look at blogs that I'm part of, watch some videos and just kind of like sit there with a coffee before Freddie wakes up. And then when we got up, we just hung out with the little guy and kind of had a chill morning.
And then it was teacher mode. So I like to like get myself dressed up and pretend that I'm actually going into the classroom. It's interesting because I used to actually teach this class in person. I would travel to Yonge and Anglington in Toronto and I would spend the whole day and I just loved the whole journey of it. I would always like treat myself to a really nice coffee and I would do my marking in this super vibey restaurant. I'd either get an espresso or I'd grab a glass of wine afterwards and I would treat it as this whole experience because Yonge and Eglinton is just this gorgeous area in Toronto and there's, there's so many fun places to go. But ever since COVID this has been an online class, which is a blessing in disguise because I no longer live in Toronto, so it means I don't have to do the commute back to teach. But I honestly really love being in person with the students, so it's bittersweet for sure.
And yeah, so I spent the day teaching. We talked all about setting up their business, registering their business, how to know when you need an HST number, how to come up with your business name. We talk all about whether you need a website or not, social media, how to build your packages, pricing, building out a sales funnel, what works, what doesn't, you name it, we discuss it. And I can always see this mix of excitement but also fear in the students of can I really make this work? And like, what percentage of holistic nutritional professionals actually succeed in making this a full time job? And I remember feeling the same way when I was at CSNN back in 2013 of like, what am I really doing with this diploma? It's not a regulated profession, which means that people who have health care benefits can't necessarily spend their money on this. And so you're going to be out there competing with a lot of other health professionals in the marketplace and it can be challenging and it's overwhelming. And when you get into business because you're really excited to, in this case, help people with their nutrition, their lifestyle, their supplementation, that's what we do as holistic nutritionists. But then you realize that you have to spend equal amount of time learning business. And even though you didn't get into this line of work to be a entrepreneur or a marketer or a salesperson, those are all vital skills for being successful.
And it's not necessarily something they want to learn right now because they're loving their course materials. They want to learn about how to eat for better nutrition and how to reverse diabetes and pediatric nutrition and immune system and all that stuff. But the business skills are so essential, and that's really where I feel my calling to show up is to really help them to take the overwhelm out of business and make it fun. And, you know, there's nothing greater to me than getting a comment that says, thank you for making this course fun. I had no idea that business could be so enjoyable. I had no idea that I could get excited about marketing. Thank you for bringing energy to this course that I thought was going to be so dry, and so it really warms my heart. And I just felt so good about that.
So that was a long day. I usually feel pretty mentally drained, but knowing that Dave and Freddie were waiting for me at the end of the day, I kept pushing forward, pushing forward. And we officially wrapped up the course. It was spread over three days, but Saturday at 4, I was officially finished, and we just had a fun little walk around town, and then we went to the Santa Claus Parade, which was a lot of fun. So our town had the Santa Claus Parade. Tons of floats, tons of lights, and music, and, you know, it was the whole thing. So that was awesome. Came home, made some dinner.
I just made, like, a sheet pan, chicken. So we got chicken from the market, chopped it up into cubes, marinated it with spices and all that, and then threw it on a pan with potatoes, chopped red onions, and something else, I think some peppers, and then just took it out of the oven, and that's what we ate for dinner. So that was awesome. And that was Saturday. Sunday, I decided to take another rest day. My muscles were so sore from going to F45 on Friday night, so I took Saturday off. But I did do all my teaching from a standing desk Sunday. Decided to take the day off, too, aside from walking and just, like, playing with Freddy, which is very, very active.
And on Sunday, I had a Christmas brunch with some friends. So we did that and honestly just had a really relaxed day. We didn't have too much scheduled, which sometimes is the best. But then sometimes you're kind of like, oh, we want to take Freddy out and have adventures. So Dave and I were saying, like, like, maybe next time we plan an activity in the afternoon. Normally, we're really good about just, like, showing him new things and bringing him along. Our hobbies. But we had a bit more of a lazy day, and I think that's totally okay once in a while.
But at the end of the day, we're like, maybe we should have, like, gone swimming or, I don't know, just taking him out and about to see the world. So that was the weekend. A little bit of work, a little bit of play. I got to read one of the books that I got. I actually, even though I'm not a huge reader, I did buy a book the other day from the local coffee shop, and it's just like a total fiction novel by. Oh, my gosh, what is her name? I don't know, but it's a. It's like a. A fun chick flick about living on Nantucket.
And it's very popular. I'm sure tons of you have read it. So anyways, if you've read this book, I think her name's like, Erin Hildebrand or something, let me know. I just started reading it, got through chapter one. But I really want to just, like, have time where I just read about fiction and not business. So we'll see if I can get through the book. But regardless, went to bed again, and that was the weekend. So I'll check back in.
Monday will be my final update, which I'm excited about. And, yeah, thanks for getting this far in the week in the Life. All right, you guys, it's Monday. This is my last week in the Life update. We woke up this morning and it was just pouring rain and it was dark, and I'm like, oh, my gosh. Sometimes winter in Ontario can be pretty gloomy. It's like, oh, now I understand why people move to California. But I always believe it is a choice on how you go about your day, right? You can say, oh, the weather's so shitty and just, like, marinate in that.
Or you can be like, I'm going to look for some freaking awesome things to do today and make it the best day ever. So I'll make a coffee, I'll put on fun music. I'll just, like, basically mentally hype myself up for the fact that, like, I'm gonna have a great day and I am in complete control of this day and it is such a constant battle. But I love that I'm able to shift my mindset to that place of, like, no, there's really no point wallowing in a thought that is so just blah. Like, I can literally do whatever I want with Freddy today. I can go get wet and play in puddles and laugh and who cares? Right. Like make the best of it. So Mondays are fun because we go to fitness with baby classes.
Shout out to Crystal from Fitness Reset. And I love going with him. I mean, Freddy's one of the older kids there, so he's like walking around the studio. He's being so mischievous. He's plugging in and trying to unplug the fans. He's picking up three pound weights and throwing them across the room. He's getting into everyone's toys. He's like about to trample over all the three month old babies.
But we go and we have fun and it's just such a great outing to be among other mamas, among other kids. Freddy likes to play with his friend Will and it's just a good time. So we did that from 10:30 to 11:30 and then got home, had some lunch and I actually just put him down for a N nap. So I'm recording this at about 2:00 and I've just been diving into work. I have a lot of stuff that I'm preparing for in terms of the annual planning workshop. I hope you're coming. If you're listening to this, it's a two hour workshop virtual on December 23rd, taking you through my seven step process for planning your upcoming 2025. It's going to be so good.
You guys do not miss out. You're gonna get the recording even if you can't attend and it's going to set you up for having an absolutely wonderful year ahead in business, in life. And my seven step process is something I've created and it has served me so well in growing my business year over year, making sure that I had such an amazing maternity leave experience over the past 12 months. And I'm just so grateful to have this process in place. So come join us. We've got about 25 people coming already and it's going to be such a good time. So I've been working on that and just kind of cleaning up a bunch of tasks. So really trying to get through the to do list on the nap time hustle.
It's tough because of course on nap time I would love to clean the house or prepare dinner or just sit back and like watch some TV or something. But it's really not the reality. And I don't say this as like a victim thing, but it's not the reality if you're a working mama. Because these hours or whatever pocket of day that you have to work, that's probably your only downtime. And so instead of relaxing you're often just shifting into work mode, CEO mode, whatever it is that you have to do. And you're making the most of any time that you are gifted. So it's a choice, right? I have chosen to keep the business going even with very few child care hours, but it's all good. So we're really just kind of assessing, like, what does 2025 look like in terms of child care? Right now we have two days a week of help, but that only goes till the end of December.
So we're, you know, once again in that childcare pickle that I'm sure so many young families find themselves in. I'm just so not ready for full time daycare yet. I. I love being with Freddie so much. There's nothing I want more in the world than to be there for him and to spend time with him and to soak in these early days. So, yeah, probably about a two day a week situation because I also love my business. Like, I'm literally smiling ear to ear that I. I get this time to connect with you and to podcast with you, and it means the world to me that I get to do work that I love.
And eight years into this business, I'm still obsessed with sitting down and talking to you, creating content for you, working on marketing strategies with you, speaking. And I have so many ideas of where I want to go with this company. I want to be the most valuable resource in marketing. Not only myself, but I'd love to build an entire team and an education company. And what I'm doing right now with one of my clients that has 35 franchise partners, I want to build that and deliver it to more franchisees around the world. And I want to build a bigger personal brand and grow the podcast and host retreats and international gatherings and like, oh my God, you guys, I'm not short of ideas. I just think it's about focusing on the right things right now. So I'm gonna wrap up my work very soon.
Freddy usually sleeps for about two to three hours, so he might be waking up anytime now. I have a roast in the slow cooker that was a little hack from the morning I threw the roast in, threw some carrots and some celery and some onions on it, salt and pepper, some water, and it'll be done in 10 hours. So that was the way to save dinner time tonight. Also on Monday, I often go to our trail running club here in town. So whether I go or not, you know, if I do, dinner will be ready for when I get home. At 7pm so yeah, that's a little bit of what the Monday looks like. Honestly, I've realized I run my life as like a summer camp counselor essentially, which is so ridiculous. But I like to wake up and be like, what am I doing at 8? What am I doing at 9? What am I doing at 10? What am I doing at 11? And it just works.
It works for me. I love having structure to the days. It is so fulfilling to have a full schedule. In my opinion, not so full, but full enough that you feel like there's like little, you know, like milestones that you calendar your day around. So there you have it. That's a week in the life. I think I recorded seven days. And so you've kind of got a snapshot of what life looks like.
I, I feel very grateful and maybe it's just because it's December, maybe it's because my son is turning one and it's his birth month. Maybe it's because, I don't know, I just feel lucky to be able to create this show for you and the fact that you're listening, it just means the world. So I'd be really curious.
