Hey, visionary Welcome back. Are you an entrepreneur who is struggling, keep your energy levels high, you know that that can be detrimental to the future of your business, to the growth to the energy and vibrancy you bring to your marketing strategy, your client acquisition to your actual delivery of your product.
But don't worry, you're not alone, people are walking around like zombies, because we are overworked, we are tired, we are busy, we have a lot going on. We're chasing big dreams. And between the long hours, the constant hustle and the grind that we put ourselves through, especially in the early years, it can be hard to stay energized and motivated, especially throughout the days.
But there are things that you can do to boost your energy in a short amount of time for not a lot of money. Sounds good, right. And my guarantee is that if you do these five things, your business is going to start running better because you are one of the most important assets, if not the most important asset in your business. And I don't want you to be walking around like a slug. I want you to be buzzing with energy with tons to give and tons leftover at the end of the day.
So in this episode, we want to look at five easy to implement strategies for entrepreneurs to boost their energy quickly. And this does not involve relying on a rock star drink. I don't really like those things. This does not involve a IV caffeine drip, I would probably do that if it were healthy, but unfortunately, I don't think it is. So I'm going to share five really simple free methods that you can use to take control of your energy.
And to actually become more productive. Whether you do one or five of these habits. Alright, let's get into it. You know, guy you. If I could talk, you guys know I'm obsessed with energy. So here is Habit number one. The first habit, it's free, it doesn't cost a thing. And it goes counterintuitive to what you think I'm going to say. But to boost your energy, I want you to decrease your caffeine intake.
Oh my God, I know. Here's the thing. I was the person who was drinking three coffees a day. And I know for some of you, you're like, Okay, well, that's not that much. I drink five or six. But three a day for me was a lot, especially because I drink more espresso based coffees. So up until about four or five months ago, actually, I was doing one at 6am, one at 7am. And then another at noon, I would say. So I kind of had this constant caffeine drip, and I needed all three in order to feel energized.
So what I decided to do about three months ago was to actually start cutting back and I'm actually back you can celebrate me if you want. I'm down to one caffeinated coffee a day. And then I do one Swiss water, decaf or naturally decaffeinated coffee. And then I'm done. I don't take in any other caffeine unless I have a little bit of chocolate in the evening, which, you know, just love my chocolate at night. So don't judge me. But regardless, this has actually given me energy.
Because within about four weeks, I found that my body completely adapted and self regulated. So before, every hour or two, I'd feel like okay, I'm dipping, I'd be low energy, and then I would rely on the caffeine to get get me to a state of high energy. But as I weaned myself back to the one coffee, yes, I still like to have caffeine, the moment I wake up so I literally roll out of bed go straight to my kettle, I press down the kettle button, boil water and pour myself a coffee in that time.
I've also done my tongue scraper, brush my teeth and fed my dog, but then I'm having coffee. So I do that one. But now I have sustained energy throughout the entire day. This is partly due to nutrition habits as well and regulating your blood sugar so that you don't have dips in energy. But I would largely attributing it attribute my managed energy to actually reducing my caffeine intake which is crazy. I feel better than I ever have. And I'm only doing one caffeinated coffee at 6am. So that is strategy number one for boosting and gaining more energy in a short period of time. Let's go to strategy number two. Strategy number two is something I have recently been experimenting with. So as you guys know I've been cold plunging for the last two years. We meet every single Sunday. And it's been so fun like we got a whole crew of us it's different every week we meet on the North River where I live and we plunge we do both Do two and a half minutes in ice cold river water.
It's crazy. But it's so much fun. However, recently I've decided, you know, why am I doing this just on Sundays because I could really use a pick me up a little boost of energy around 2pm The time when I would typically reach for coffee. And even though I don't find myself like fatigued, necessarily, but I do appreciate feeling electric to be out. Like if I can jump on client calls at two and be better than I was at seven or eight or 9am. I'm all for it.
And by doing a midday cold plunge, so around one or 2pm, you actually get this huge surge of energy, you're gonna feel more awake than you have all day. And this is something you can do for free. And it takes five minutes, you could also take a cold shower, or you could roll in cold snow if you live in a snowy climate. So there's lots you can do, you can also just grab ice cubes out of the freezer and like lay on them or put them on your stomach and let them melt for five minutes.
Cold is very interesting, because although we resist it, I think there's a lot of lessons in there that if you can withstand the cold, and if you can become comfortable with the cold that you can kind of do anything. So the midday cold plunge has been reset number two and a great way for me to gain more energy in a short period of time. Okay, method number three is to pop on a YouTube video or to listen to a motivational podcast. Now this gives me energy because sometimes I just hit a wall, I feel like I'm creatively blocked. I feel like I have to jump on a client call and there's just nothing coming through.
So for me, I could sit down and meditate in silence, but I actually like, like hearing from others or being inspired. And this can actually just take the form of listening to upbeat music as well. But sometimes when I'm on Spotify, I'll just kind of check in with my gut like do I want to listen to a short 10 minute motivational speech or podcast? Or do I want to go over to my dance Mix Playlist, and really tap into like high vibe energy through music. And this is free like Spotify. Yes, we pay for it. But you can get all of this for free on YouTube. Or you can tap into Spotify for 10 bucks a month. And honestly, I get so much dopamine firing while I listen to these quick podcasts.
Or while I tune into highly upbeat music like I don't know what the BPM is. But I love the dance remix playlist or the Pop Remix playlist on Spotify. I've also got playlists called visionary hype, you can search them on Spotify, and they just get me so fired up. So yeah, I mean, the neurons that fire when you're listening to something inspirational definitely helps lead to higher performance.
But it also helps you to just radically gain energy in a short period of time. You just need a couple of minutes, one song Three and a half minutes. So pretty, pretty awesome. All right. Method number four to gain a lot of energy in a short amount of time is to stand up, try a standing desk and you can totally make one yourself I used to use the two baskets in my office are like little foot and a half cubes that we got at IKEA. I put those on my desk, I put a picture frame laying on top, and then I would set up my computer and my monitor on top of that contraption. Now I have one of those, like liftable platforms. So I put it on my seated desk. And then I can actually just use like the hydraulic button and then it comes right up with me. Hey, visionaries.
I wanted to interrupt this podcast to actually let you know about an upcoming offering that I am launching in collaboration with professional mindset and success coach Emily Elliot, you've probably heard me talk about your 2023 fleet. Cohort number one has been so successful. And this is the highly anticipated program because there was so much demand for it in 2022, that myself a marketing consultant and top rated marketing coach and Emily Eliot. Again, he's a professional success and mindset coach, we've teamed up to actually launch another cohort of your 2020 Free leap.
Our first cohort, they're having smashing successes and the momentum is huge. So we've decided to launch it again in May of 2023. Between Emily and I, we have helped 1000s of individuals to grow their mindset and grow their success and we're going to teach you the MVP model.
Mindset plus visibility equals more profitability and if you're a for profit business, this is something that It's so important that you dial in both of these pillars. But don't sign up yet. First, I want to run you through a few little things to see if you're ready for your 2023 lease. So if you want to learn from Emily how to embody the physiology of success, this has been a game changer for me personally, people have literally messaged me on Instagram, I got a voice note from my friend Mark last night. And he said, Kelsey, I don't know what's going on. But something's different about you. And I attribute this to embodying the physiology of success, which Emily is teaching me. And he's also going to teach us how to step into an entrepreneurial mindset. There are so many blocks that you might carry through from your previous corporate job that are actually keeping you stagnant. And I've recorded an entire podcast episode about this, called the three mindset blocks that were keeping me stuck. And then I step in each week over the 90 days to teach you a foolproof marketing strategy so that you can connect with unlimited clients. That's pretty awesome, right?
So I'm going to teach you how to use social media to convert followers into paid clients. I'm going to teach you how to build a simple sales and marketing funnel. I'm also going to show you how to leverage Google and SEO to get more leads to your business. This is so important, and 99% of businesses are not taking advantage of it.
And you're also just going to be surrounded by the most insane entrepreneurs, we have 15 people in this cohort and my gosh, like there are tears or there's laughter, a lot of the comments that have come through our private Slack channel, say, this is the program I didn't know I needed, I was so lonely. I was doing this with blinders on before you're 2023 leads.
And it's incredible to see how these individuals are collaborating both on the calls and off. And I must say Emily and I are pretty awesome leaders of these hour and a half calls that we have each week. So if this all sounds good to you, I want you to head to Kelsey rydell.com/ 2023, Kelsey rydell.com/ 2023, and just pop your name and email in there.
So you know about the upcoming launch. And we might even send you some special bonuses when the time comes to start enrolling. So again, we cannot wait to see you inside of cohort number two and back to the episode. So I find that standing can be really energizing one to two days a week, or one to two hours per day, especially when you're taking calls.
So there's a different energy that actually comes out of your voice when you're standing and projecting versus sitting and you're kind of closed up and your throat you're like looking down. So think about how you're posturing. And if you're feeling kind of sluggish, it might actually be just the way you set and your concave thing over your desk, try standing and rolling your shoulders back. And kinda like moving your feet around a little bit almost like you're like dancing on the spot, or just the movement that comes from a standing body is very different than a sitting slouching body.
So that would be another tip is if you can create a standing work desk for one to two hours a day. Or, for me, it's usually one or two days out of the week that I spend the whole day on calls, standing, bouncing around and taking three minute dance parties between my coaching calls. So that is another tip for you. And tip number five for gaining more energy in a short period of time is not waiting until the weekend to treat yourself to something interesting or to something fun. I feel like as the week rolls on energy tends to dwindle. It's just normal, right? Monday, you're like,
Okay, I just came off a weekend. I'm recharged Tuesday, I can get through this Wednesday, you've had that slump day Thursday, you're like, I'm so freaking tired, but I'm gonna go out and drink with the friends tonight. And then by Friday, you're hungover low energy, the output that happens in the corporate world on a Friday must be a fraction of what happens on Mondays. A lot of people go home early on Fridays, a lot of people are checked out as of Thursday at 4pm. So they may physically be in the office on Friday.
But there's actually no work happening. You know what I mean? Regardless, I feel like we all kind of whether you're an entrepreneur or not, we all kind of have this tendency to kind of as the week progresses feel like we have less energy and we're just kind of like giving up but if you've run a business you know that a workday is a workday and you don't want to waste time nobody got time for that. So what I've done to mitigate this is to add in sprinkles of fun throughout my week, and sprinkles of things that bring me joy so that I don't ever burn out through the week like yes, my weeks are lost. long and tiring.
But even if I just give myself 12 minutes to walk to the local coffee shop and treat myself to coffee, or like tonight, I have a bunch of girlfriends coming over and we're going to plan our gardens together, that just takes 90 minutes out of the day. Or maybe you want to bake your very first loaf of bread, that could be like a little treat, and you're excited to learn and you got all these books from the library. And you can't wait to give yourself that 30 minutes to actually mix the dough and just be a maker with your hands. Maybe you're excited by adventure films. And so recently, friends of mine, we all split on the Vancouver mountain Film Festival.
And we have one month of access. So we're all treating ourselves to watching one adventure film per night. So it's something to really look forward to. Some of them are just seven minute micro films, right? So finding those moments of energy every day, not just Saturday and Sunday, if you can just make this a practice to realize that all you have is today, right? Like literally that is it. And if you feel low energy today, and you kind of give the day away, well, you you aren't guaranteed anything tomorrow, you aren't guaranteed tomorrow. And I want to make sure that you feel lit up by the life in front of you and that you know how to change your state and to boost your energy in a very short amount of time because it's a game changing life skill. And energy is certainly one of my favorite currencies like I feel rich and wealthy and abundant when I have all day energy because that means I can do everything I want and feel so fulfilled.
Right? I can write out a list of my dream day and know that I have the energy to accomplish it. So that's it for today visionaries.
