216 How To Apply Life Lessons To Business Growth

I’m sharing my most important life lessons that I’ve helped me grow my business

Tune into this weeks episode…

Growing your business is definitely not easy.

It takes hard work, dedication and most importantly, learning from your mistakes.

Over the years, I’ve learned many life lessons which have helped me grow my business and today I want to share 5 of them with you.

If you are launching or growing an online business, these will be great reminders for you!

1. When you plant seeds you don’t always get an instant harvest - but if you’re patient, the harvest WILL come!

This lesson actually came to me this year when I decided to start my first ever veggie garden.

I planted 72 different seeds, not knowing what would sprout and what would not grow.

Here is what I noticed…

  • Within a couple of days, there were some seeds which were sprouting rather quickly.

  • A couple of weeks later, more seeds sprouted

  • After a month, some of those seeds were over a foot tall!

  • Most importantly, some of the seeds hadn’t sprouted at all. And, probably won’t ever sprout.

This is a great reminder that even though we are constantly testing new strategies to grow our services and reach new clients, not all of them work.

  • You might post on Instagram Daily and get a lot of engagement

  • And you might Blog Weekly and have ZERO return on investment after 12 months

This is TOTALLY normal and we can only gather this data by experimenting.

At times, we get frustrated since our efforts don’t show right away, but in reality that is completely normal.

Overnight successes are really years of consistency.

2. If you are open to life, life opens to you

This life lesson came to me after I lost my mom this year and decided I wanted to connect with a Medium.

Upon sharing my experience with some family and friends it was interesting to see how some people were really closed-off to the idea of seeing a Medium and others shared with me their own experiences doing something similar.

But, this path I decided to take really made me realize the importance of having an Open Mind. Just because YOU can’t do something doesn’t mean it’s not possible and that someone else can’t do it.

Life is full of different types of people and each person has been giving a gift (which is why I always talk about your Unique Brilliance™ in the Visionary Community)

Allowing myself to go through life with an open heart and mind has been a game changer for me. I want to challenge you to take the time to be open in your everyday life.

If you’re not feeling connected with life right now, here are some simple ways to start engaging…

  • Take your earphones off on your next walk around the neighborhood and observe your surroundings - looking for meaning in the mundane

  • Start a conversation with someone you’ve never spoken to and see what synergies exist between you

Great things can happen in your life and business when you are present and open.

You never know where random conversations and relationships can lead you - maybe you’ll even land your next client or a referral!

3. Turning your biggest Pain Point into your strength/superpower

A couple of years ago, I hired a business coach to help me identify my ‘why’. I wanted to narrow down what made me unique as a marketing/business coach and confirm the reason my business existed for my clients.

The coach that I was working with at the time asked me one simple question: “what were you bullied / teased for, as a kid”

As I sat there thinking about it, the one thing which came to my head was a girlfriend of mine asking me why I was so positive, all the time.

At that moment, I thought “oh no.. I need to hide that part of me and not be too optimistic”

But, in reality, I needed to nurture that.

Over the past 5 years, that is one of the reasons why clients have hired me.

I get paid because of my positivity. The same thing I would get bullied for when I was younger is how I make my living.

I am sharing this because the world needs that thing you are the most gifted at.

Sit down and take the time to reflect on what that is for you!

4. Invest in yourself

When you invest time, energy or money into yourself, there will always be a return on investment.

  • You put energy into your health, you will get energy back

  • You put money into your savings accounts, you will get money back

  • You put time into learning to create systems, you will get time back.

When I hired my first business coach 5 years ago, it cost me $5,000 and at the time I couldn’t phantom spending that money. But I did.

However, that coach helped me create The Visionary Method™  which has been my Full Time Income over the last 5 years.

As another example, I recently joined a mastermind for $10,000.00 and after the purchase I ended up signing two $6,000 clients. It’s like the Universe rewards people who invest in themselves.

I can’t expect people to invest $6,000 working with me if I don’t invest in my own development. Same goes for you.

This doesn’t only apply for your business, this is also every application in your everyday life. For example, if you spend time organizing your closet, the ROI (return on investment) is spending less time digging out the clothes you will wear then you gain back some time in your day.

Do you believe in investing in yourself? If so, what is the last investment you have made?

5. Health is the most important thing that you have in growing your business (80% of the time).

Health is the most important thing that you have in growing your business. If you are not thriving it’s going to be hard to show up for your clients.

I’m not saying you need to be perfect, but my rule of thumb is 80% of the time you need to be making sure you are taking care of your mind, body and soul.

As a service provider, if you are unwell you can’t work nor grow your business which means you can’t make money.

Your body, mind and soul are your temple and you need to treat them well.

If you have been neglecting yourself, I want you to take a moment today to do something that will improve your body, mind or soul. You are the MOST important asset in your business!

I hope you found these life lessons helpful for your own business journey.

Each of them has been instrumental in my life, and I hope they can help you too. If you have any questions or need help launching/growing your business please don’t hesitate to reach out.
