Uncle Chuck’s BBQ Sauce | New Food Brand from Award Winning Chef, Cheryl Torrance
This is the story of Cheryl Torrance (aka Uncle Chuck!)
Cheryl is an award-winning chef, fitness studio manager, and all around epic human being!
Tune in…
Today, I’m sitting down with Cheryl Torrance (aka The Dancing Chef, Chef Inked, and Uncle Chuck!)
Cheryl Torrance aka Chef Inked aka Uncle Chuck is BACK on the podcast for her second appearance - this time to talk about her new venture.
You might remember Cheryl from episode #003 of the Visionary Life Podcast. The early days of the show!
Chery was one of our first guests on Visionary Life, and almost 4 years ago I remember taking the TTC to the spin studio she works at called Torq, and sitting on the windowsill recording with a single $90 microphone.
Let’s just say, a LOT ha changed since then! Both for Cheryl and for the podcast.
Today, I’m hanging out with Cheryl virtually to learn all about Uncle Chucks BBQ sauces: where the idea came from, how she’s now selling them in 5 stores, and what the future looks like for the business.
Cheryl holds nothing back in this episode, and I really think you’re going to dig it!
In this episode we chat about…
Why she left the food industry after 20 years
What brought her back and nudged her to launch her own brand, Uncle Chucks
What it’s like being on a TV show
& why she’s scaling slowly

Prep Notes:
Last time I saw you was at a bar in the East End of Toronto, where we watched you win Wall of Chefs
How long ago was that? That wa pre-COVID…
Can you tell us about how that opportunity came to you and what it was like to film for a TV Show
Any perks that followed your win?
ORIGIN STORY:
But just before we dive into your current project Uncle Chucks, can you share with us why you have such an affinity for good food. Like, when I hear you describing your culinary experiences and sharing what you eat I feel like you have a love, appreciation and knowledge for food that a lot of people don’t have.
Where does that interest and love come from?
LAUNCHING UNCLE CHUCKS
This isn’t your first food brand that you’ve launched - you had Dog Food and I know you’ve tested a few other concepts, so how did you know Uncle Chucks was something you wanted to follow through on?
Tell us about the business: what do you sell, what do you hope people feel when they use your product
The brand is actually named after you - tell us about the decision to call it Uncle Chucks and how you’re enjoying your new spokesperson role!
I know that community is a really big part of your life, and something you pour into…
How important was your community supporting the launch of this brand
Through your many years of work experience and being part of various organizations - you’ve built up a pretty large audience - which I’m sure has been really great for launching Uncle Chucks
A lot of people feel alone, isolated and like they don’t have community - any tips?
What does the formulation process look like? How do you dream up new products and bring them to life?
How do you currently sell Uncle Chucks?
Do you have a plan or vision as to where you want to go or what it could look like in 5 years, or are you more of a day by day person
If we were only going to buy 1 product to start, which one would you suggest
Also, it’s the 1 year anniversary? Any highlights or memorable moments that you want to share from the past 365 days
How do you balance Uncle Chucks with working FT?
