Although social media has only been around for a little under 20 years, it has already had a significant impact on our lives.

In the past, we mostly interacted face-to-face or over the phone, but these days, social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, TikTok, and Instagram are equally as likely to be used for communication with friends and family, and to run our businesses!

The way we receive information has also altered as a result of social media. Prior to these platforms, we relied on news sources like newspapers and television to keep us informed about current events. Nowadays, we use these sources as one of the main online resources to get our news.

There is no getting around using social media as a key tool in our everyday lives. 

As a business owner, it can be hard to figure out what the heck to post on social media in order to capture the attention of your Dream Clients.

The key is to create content that is relevant to your target audience and that speaks to their needs and interests. 

For example, if you sell services that cater to busy moms, you could post helpful tips on how to save time or articles on the latest trends in parenting. By creating content that resonates with your target market, you can build relationships with potential customers and position yourself as a trusted resource. 

Whether you are getting started or just need new inspiration, this blog will be beneficial for you. I am sharing 20 ideas which will help you create new content for your social media.

First thing first, do not forget that social platforms are forever evolving and changing, so your strategy has to evolve with them.

There’s a lot of different social media platforms out there and it can be hard to know which one will be best for your audience. I’d recommend picking one or two platforms where you can focus your time one. The number one question to ask yourself is “Where are my Dream Clients spending time when they’re online?”

Okay, let’s get back into it:

Second, we need to identify the main content pillars of your business. This will allow you to identify the key content buckets that you will need to create for, in order to give a well rounded perspective of your business.

  • What are the major concepts that you teach on / talk about, that allow someone to learn about your expertise

  • Do you need to inspire, educate or entertain to attract clients?

  • If you are a service provider, do you need a content pillar that talks about YOU as a practitioner?

  • What is your subject matter expertise (aka the topics you feel like you want to share about) ?

*Reflect on each of these points and jot down whatever comes to mind as a piece of content you could share on this topic

  1. What have been the major pivot points or milestones in your life (i.e. the day you launched your business, the day you became a mom, the day you quit your dream job). Talk about them and how they brought you to where you are today!

  2. Survey your followers to see what they're struggling with and create solution-based content to help them move through their challenges

  3. Ever have days when you don't feel qualified? So does everyone.. share a time when you felt stuck and then what tools you used to overcome that feeling (“I get you, you get me” post)

  4. Tell a story of someone that you worked with (case study) who had great success and focus on sharing what their results were

  5. Share a challenge you're facing and how you're overcoming it

  6. Talk about a movie or TV Show that you recently watched and 1 lesson that you learned that you can apply to your business (aka I watched the J-LO Documentary and her hustle and determination inspired me to prepare for my meeting this week)

  7. What are your dreams and goals for your business? Do you want to teach 1,000,000 people how to use Mindset Shifts to change their life? Share them

  8. Has anyone given you a testimonial or texted you something awesome? Share it!

  9. What do people come to you for advice on? Talk about that.

  10. Talk about a past career you had, and how it lead you to do what you do today

  11. Did you ever work with a coach or take a workshop that helped you learn something? Teach it!

  12. Share 5 random facts about yourself and then ask your audience to do the same

  13. Who do you admire as a leader in your field of study (aka who is the Marketer that you’ve learned the most from)

  14. Share a line from a book you're currently reading and talk about why it resonates with you

  15. Have you been quiet on social media lately? Share why… (maybe you’re busy creating a new program or just got a new dog). Bring your followers behind the scenes of your real life!

  16. What types of negative or hard feedback have you received? How did it make you stronger?

  17. Celebrate a milestone in your business (6 month anniversary, 100 email subscribers, 7000 podcast listens this week, etc.)

  18. What got you interested in your industry? Go back in time and share your Origin Story (this is something I teach you inside of The Visionary Method™

  19. Do you hang out with other people in your industry? Share a photo of yourself and your community.

  20. Share an inspiring quote that relates to your business
